Yesterday, I told you about a new show I'm co-producing with a big deal kind of guy in the agency PR and publishing world.
We're calling it the Titans of Publishing Show and we'll feature tons
of big-name players from all sorts of publishing ventures:- Podcasting
- Physical books
- Kindles
- Webinars
- Newsletters
- Audio interviews (different than podcasts)
- Video (different than
webinars)
- Music
- Art
and many more. Essentially, anything you can publish is something we will talk about.
We're doing our first few shows, lining up guests, collecting our assets (logo, taglines, marketing materials, etc.)...
We're not calling this a "podcast." It's a show. The difference?
Semantics!
No, seriously, depending on how YOU define what a podcast is, this show either is or isn't!
I typically think of a
podcast as audio-only.
But I picked up a book yesterday about podcasting that defined it
thusly (snooty collegiate word alert!):
Audio or video made available online for easy on-demand consumption and/or subscription-based delivery.
There you have it! This show may in fact be a podcast since it will be delivered via audio, video, and blog and will be available on-demand and subscription-based...
We're still calling it a show. So there!
The point of all of this: It doesn't matter much what you call it. And that book I mentioned just above?
It gives a ton of information on how to start a podcast (or show) using many different methods and equipment.
Well worth a read if you're into doing something like this.
PS - If you're interested in watching or subscribing to our show, let me know (just reply - and thanks to you
if you've already done so).
We'll have an announcement page up pretty soon.
