Hi,
I hope you enjoyed the podcast...
Like the subject line says,
webhosting doesn't have to be expensive. Especially when you're just starting out, it doesn't make sense to get a dedicated server. Or even VPS.
What you really need is quality shared hosting.
Yes, there are perils with shared hosting, such as:
- Your site could be slowed down by other traffic going to your shared server (a bad thing)
- Your site could get blacklisted if you share the server with a porn site (a bad thing - and OMG it's terribly
difficult to get your site off all those lists)
- You may get to the point where YOU'RE causing the slowness because you're getting so much traffic (a good thing - in which case you just "buy up" and move your site to a faster plan at your web host or you move to a webhost like Liquid Web which is expensive but worth the money once you have an established business)
I've just hooked up with a CHEAP webhost called A2 Hosting. They offer plans for less than 4 bucks a month.
So do the math: If you want to start a new online business, you shell out ten dollars for a domain and 48 dollars for webhosting for a year.
For far less than a
single Benjamin, you're in business.
Give it a look. They offer great plans and great service (I know because I'm now a customer).
