Do You Have A Calling?

Published: Fri, 11/18/16

See life’s work as a pyramid.

The lowest level is a job, the middle level is career, and the upper level is a calling.

The bulk of people are at the base of that pyramid.

They have jobs.

Fewer have careers, and very few have a calling.

Having a calling feels like you were born to do what you do.

You were made to do it.

Mother Theresa had a calling.

She didn’t have a job or a career.

You’re going to have experiences in life where you’re going to feel like, “Oh, I love doing this stuff. I was meant to work with kids with autism.”

You’ll think, “I was meant to work with dying people.”

Or, "I was meant to help small businesses achieve their dreams."

You’re going to have experiences like this.

Don’t settle for a job.

There’s nothing wrong with having a career (or a job, for that matter), but the whole thing is to go for a calling.

Do a side hustle!

Try to find out what you were really put on earth to do.

Do it better than you could ever do anything else. (10X it! - I hate that book, by the way. I get the premise, but too many people try to literally 10x stuff and they just wind up burnt out, hurt, and dejected.)

Hit the top of that pyramid.
