Expectations - live like you deserve it

The person that broke Ty Cobb’s record for most number of hits in a career was Pete Rose.

Now Pete Rose was not nearly as good a hitter as Ty Cobb (who was a BEAST), but he had a very long career.

Late in his Pete's career, he was chasing one of the great baseball records of all time.

He was trying to break Ty Cobb’s record for the most number of hits in a career.

And all across America, every newspaper had the Pete Rose countdown.

“Pete Rose needs 50 hits to break the record."

"Pete Rose needs 40 hits, 30 hits...20...19...18...”

So it’s down to Pete only needing 14 more hits to break Ty's record.

One day, a sportswriter asked, “Pete, you’re a lifetime 300 hitter. How many at bats will you need to get the 14 hits?”

Without even thinking, Pete Rose said, “Oh, that’s easy. Fourteen.”

Pete Rose was a lifetime .300 hitter, but in his mind, he batted a thousand.

Do you bat a thousand in your head? If you don't, you may want to give this a read (or a listen):
