Another free Friday tool

Yesterday, I hinted at the success I'd had in a brief experiment I did with a web app called back.ly.

Here's what I did:

I went to their site and input a URL of something I wanted to share. I went through their easy steps. It took less than a minute.

Then I grabbed their link.

What I did next is the trick: I took that link and "flipboarded" it (I saved it to Flipboard, an online magazine-style "read it later" app).

Now, all my "boards" are public, and I have a few followers.

Of my followers, 40 percent clicked-through the little link at the bottom (my "call to action"). That's damn good.

I will be using this a LOT in the coming days, just to validate its effectiveness.
