Did you see the fight?

Hi there and happy Sunday!

Well, the McGregor vs. Mayweather fight was better than I expected.

I went to a neighbor's house to watch it on PPV. No way I was going to spend money on what I thought was going to be a crummy boxing match.

Turned out, it wasn't horrible. It was even entertaining, especially when the actual pro boxer won.

Now, I don't like Mayweather especially. He seems to run a lot and is well-known for his defense. Which is cool, if not terribly boring to watch.

Everybody likes a knockout, right? Just like we like NASCAR car crashes (especially the ones where the car lifts off the ground and flips in the air...then rolls 25 times on the ground until all that's left is the driver and the cage he sits in.

Or the hockey fight...or the baseball brawl...

In all honesty, I hate that stuff.

I like to see a pro practice his craft. In fact, in a sporting event, I like to see two pros (if head-to-head) showing their skills.

The best baseball games, to me, are when the score is 2-0 and both pitchers struck out 10+ batters.

And there was this one mistake that one pitcher made, giving up a 2-run homer to the opposing team.

See? Winning in sports is often who makes fewer mistakes. Or who doesn't make the big mistake.

Because both sides are evenly matched...and on any given day, either team, or man or woman, could win.

THAT right there is competition.

And competition makes you better.

That is what I like to see.

McGregor will enter the Octagon again. Most likely, he'll win his next fight. He doesn't lose many, and he always comes back better than ever.

Will he ever box again? I hope not.

Conor is an amazing and unique athlete. His skills are on best display when he gets to use them all. Boxing is too confined for  his talents.

Not saying he couldn't be an elite boxer; he absolutely could if he wanted to. But I'll be happy if he goes back to MMA. It's where he can shine, right now, and continuously improve.

Don't forget -- in this marketing "game," it's not you versus everybody else. It's really you improving just a little bit every day.
