How to get people to open your email

Yesterday, I talked about how email is still the best method to reach your audience.

And I alluded to this post today, specifically how you get your audience to open, read, and ACT on the emails you send them.

The answer is two-fold. But they're really one in the same.

You need a hook and you need a way to reel 'em in.

Sorry for the fish analogy. I used to fish every day. But marketing and sales is a lot like fishing:

The key to fishing always is presenting the right bait to the fish you want to catch.

Now, sometimes, with fishing, you actually trick the fish to eat something that isn't real.

Marketers do that, too. Sadly. I hope you know by know I'm not like that.

I only "present" offers that I believe are good, genuine, honest, do what they promise, etc.

All without tricking you into buying something you'll never use.

That's why it saddens me when I see somebody buy an ebook from me on Amazon and only read 10 percent through.

I actually want you to follow through and use what you buy from me because I know it will help you.

But I digress.

Getting back to fishing, I mean, marketing.

You want people to open your emails, right?

And you want your subscribers to read your emails, too.

The first part is the subject line. You have to grab attention.

Ever notice that fishing lures have "rattles?" Fish can "hear" better than they can "see."

Those rattles grab attention. The fish have a primal instinct to find out if it's food or foe. So they cautiously investigate.

You have their attention.

Now, you have to draw them in? How?

With your content!

You knew that was coming, right? After all, I preach CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT.
