Just got back from vacation - now I need a vacation!

Published: Mon, 04/10/17

I took the family of six on vacation to Disneyland. Road trip. L-O-N-G drive.

The highlight of the week was the dinner we had - outside Disney.

We went to Medieval Times. Ate with our hands. Watched jousting. Fun fun fun!

The food was surprisingly great. Yummy, in fact.

Disney, not so much.

The food was crap and expensive. Many rides were down for maintenance. And the rides that weren't down for maintenance were down often due to who knows what.

At one point, I was about to walk down to "City Hall" to give them a piece of my mind.

But then I'd have been kicked out of the park and my family would hate me.

I think Disney knows this...

Anyhoo, how can a company exist -- hell, even THRIVE -- when it's run so poorly?

No idea. Except, BRANDING.

They've done a great job making people think they're top quality. Great customer service. Etc.

By the way, many of their employees looked like they were just going through the motions to me.

Eminent Disney meltdown? Time to short their stock?

I doubt it.

There were SO MANY people there, at the insane prices and shitty customer service offered, security up the wazoo...it will be a long time before their profits suffer.

I seriously think they could 4x their prices and increase their profits and increase their customer satisfaction scores. I really do.

I'd have paid it to have shorter lines, better food, and rides that worked.

Why am I telling you this?

Oh yeah, branding.

When YOU build a winning brand for your business, it's easy to raise prices and withstand economic downturns. Tell a customer no. Take vacations when you want to.

In short, building a great brand is the surest path to success.
