When you die

Published: Mon, 11/28/16

Have I told you this story?

No?

Well, here goes:

It's about a guy who died and went to heaven. We'll call him, Jim.

And when he arrived at the gates, he saw Saint Peter.

Jim said, “Saint Peter, you got a help me out here.

"I’m brand-new.

"I just died.

"I’m originally from New Jersey.

"Are there any other dead people from New Jersey you can introduce me to?”

And Saint Peter said, “Yeah, the guy over there sitting in the corner there.

"He’s the greatest songwriter who ever lived.”

Jim said, “No.

"That’s George.

"He’s a drycleaner in the next town.

"I knew George when we were alive.”

Jim finished, by saying, “He’s not a songwriter at all.”

And Saint Peter said, “Oh, oh, oh . . .

"He could have been the greatest songwriter who ever lived, but he chose to be a drycleaner.

"He was meant to be a songwriter but his doubts got the better of him.”

Don't let this be you.

Do you have self-doubt? I do, too. But we can fix that. If we choose to.

PS - Somebody smart (was it Confucius?) once said, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step." You can take that first step today or you can choose to be mired in self-doubt until you die. Your choice.
